Fading Dashboard

I have noticed that the dashboard seems to be looking grey rather than black. It is parked outside with the afternoon sun on it. Has anyone else noticed this and have any ideas on how to make it look like new again?
Thanks mole

i haven't noticed any on mine, but then mine is not as old etc, i have also been using 303 protectorant which states its SPF 40 fro your trim so this might have been helping

i am going to be looking at buying some of this, or similar to treat my trim, there is a video show application, but you need to have stripped any previous dash products you may have used, a all purpose cleaner and IPA wipe down would do this

or another product which is getting good reviews is Wolf chemicals Trim coat, which can be also used on the rubber trim, but this needs to be cleaned and cleaned until the MF cloth is no longer come back discoloured before you apply

I would check with each that you won't end up with a big shine dash though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I would be looking at whatever you have used to clean it with as that may be the cause.

A car windscreen will block all of the UVB light and will only let about 20% of UVA through, it will take a long time for fading to happen, especially in the UK, I think our antipodean friends may have had expe3rience of this if at all.

As for spending money on SPF dash protectorant Rolling with laughter you'll buy anything

i buy it as it is a good product, the spf factor is a bonus, as it can be also used outside were there is no window to protect it, it was only about £20 so not a lot of money to waste if i didn't like it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

With all the aerosols in the npinks household, I would think the ozone layer above Leeds should be more of a concern to the 'greenies' than the one above the AntArctic. Laughing

all aerosols are ozone free nowadays Whistle , and in my whole collections of cleaning items i have 2

1) 3M Foam Glass Cleaner
2) Autoglym Alloy Seal (which is about 10 years old)

Rest of my collection is manual pump/trigger sprays or sweezy bottles, tubs or tubes Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Australia 2009 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Santorini Black

Tailored dashboard covers are available here for the popular cars, but my previous Subaru Outback, 7 years old, and Honda, 9 years old, showed no sign anywhere of internal discolouration or trim fading. The Freelander is now coming up to 3 years and, again, no sign of any trouble at all. Mind you, the hottest I've seen as only been 41〫C, so it may be different in the consistently hotter parts.
