United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

LR buy engines from Ford so depends on other demand from the plant(s) whether this will impact on jobs. Got to be good news tho for LR and Wolverhampton....(I had a narrow escape, almost went to Wolverhampton Poly many years ago, decided to resit instead and ended up in Npinks fine city and it's finest University) JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Considering that most of their engines are currently Ford built, Ford / Peugeot / Citroen designs, just what engines are they planning to build? I can't imagine that it's viable to design and built their own designs for such relatively limited volumes.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Izmir Blue
engine plant

They will not be building the current engines, because as previously said, they come from Ford. It takes big money to develop a new engine, before it can go into production. This is the main reason the oem's co-operate and share technology and costs. It is to be hoped that Freelanders or any of the rest of the range, do not start being produced with a barely proven engine. I wonder if Tata will be collaborating with another oem to spread the load on costs and engineering knowledge?

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Orkney Grey

Did I read somewhere that Ford are developing a system that will make DPF obsolete. Can't come quick enough when you hear of so many cars being crippled by this "heath robinson" technology. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
