31/07/11 Peak District

Really good laugh today. Me, Lee (lmorris4975) and Andy (Andy131) met up for some off roading in the peak district. For the first track in Little Eaton (not peak district) there was just me and Lee (and Lee's mate). Nice little track I have covered before.

After meeting Andy we covered 2 tracks near Chatsworth and came across a horde of ramblers/eco-mentalists. One woman in particular was a stuck up tw Censored t. They obviously think they should have exclusive rights of way.

Anyway, we later covered tracks in Monsal Dale and Taddington. There are no action shots on the rocky sections for good reason Shocked . Damn hair raising bouncing over those rocks, thought it was gonna smash the bottom of the car in Laughing . I have also realised why I didn't stall Lee, the stop/start system has anti-stall feature so that helped me through. Nothing could beat Andy's Auto G4 fully kitted out including off road tyres. Although me and Lee acquitted ourselves very well. Here are the pics:

You should have one of these for your next trip, for the price it's a decent piece of kit.

Great day out apart from one tiny complaint. Gill was admiring the chrome boot strip and door handles on Lee's car and is insistant that we get them for "our" car.
Since when was it our car?

Chrome on a G4 Shocked

The side tubes look like a good move - easily replaced if you get things badly wrong, as it was things got interesting enough Very Happy

Anti-stall sounds like cheating Wink Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Andy's G4 looked the part Thumbs Up

Although I really do feel the Peak District is a little tame for a G4.

Thanks Andy got the chrome bits of ebay ( not to everyones taste) but i think they make the FL look smarter, without going over the top. The side tubes did there job but i have a nice dent in the underside of the passenger side one. Big Cry
It was a very good day and would do it again. Cant help but Laughing as i think about The doctors FL bouncing over that very rocky section, but some good driving there Dave to keep it going.
Thanks for your efforts in sorting it all out Dave Thumbs Up

No worries Lee. It was good fun and it was certainly interesting bouncing over those rocks.

I could not understand why I didn't stall on the first section of Monsal Dale because at one point the revs dropped to virtually zero and I was totally off the clutch. When I accelerated, the revs came back. It wasn't until later that I remembered reading about the TD4_e models having anti-stall as part of the stop/start feature. Not sure if it works in normal mode as well as the off road settings. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Got to admit the only place a G4 doesn't look good is on the back of a transporter Crying or Very sad

A couple of sections were quite bouncy, made good use of the traction control - where is the rock crawl mode when you need it?
Considering the road biased tyres, Dave and Lee showed how good the FL2 is strait out of the box.

It's easier for me, underbody protection, Goodyear MT tyres, Auto - and lets be honest no one is going to buy a G4 for the quality of the paintwork Razz Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
