Swapping Halogen H7 Bulbs for Xenon Bulbs

Hi I have found on ebay these Xenon lamps and I was wondering if its okay to simply replace the halogens in my Freelander with these Xenons, particularly if there are any risks of damage as Xenons create a lot more heat.

Thanks

Halfrauds Extreme Brilliance are very similiar and give a good light spread, they very often have 2 for 1 offers which make them cost effective. I have them in a Merc and they are far better than the originals.

I was looking in to replacing the standard bulbs with Xenons... isn't it law that when xenons are fitted that there must be some kind of leveling... either leveling light unitsor leveling suspension?

H4 & H7 the connection is entirely difference. Upgrade your xenon D1S from 4300k to 6000 or 8000k will be better choice.

There is a lot of confusion around the word "xenon"

Typically standard "halogen" type lamps can be filled with xenon gas which gives a brighter light usually together with a snaller filament which also burns brighter. As long as the headlamps are adjusted correctly, the wattage is correct and colour is acceptable then there are no laws prohibitng there use that i am aware of.

HID headlights, sometimes called xenon, are a completely different technology, the do not use standard filament type lamps, they employ a high voltage gas discharge tube (xenon and other gases) driven by a special electronic control unit, usually called a ballast. These are governed by various laws and must have self levelling devices and headlamp cleaning units, it is illegal to fit them to standard headlamp units, despite them being widely available as aftermarket kits.

Note...bulbs go in the ground Whistle

Try your local car accessory shop, or try here;

Very good prices, and good service too.

I fitted Osram Nightbreaker plus. They made a noticeable difference in brightness and range.

Idea If these bulbs are so much better, why doesn't LR fit them as standard? Anyone know?

Because the bulbs fitted will 'meet the regulations' what's the point in wasting xtra money, every penny/euro/cent saved per car adds up.

On an old Mondeo of mine, while giving the front foot wells a vacuum I noticed that there was a bulb holder for the footwell lights which was wired up and all in place but no w5w bulbs - just the zetec model but I noticed the Ghia model had footwell lights Shocked Less than £1 spent at Halfrauds later and everytime I open the doors the footwells are flooded with light Rolling Eyes
McP spends £1 Ford saves £1. Haven't got the foggyest how many Mondeo's they will sell in a year but if it's 200,000...then Henry saves £200,000 Thumbs Up Wink
For every one engineer working on a new development, I bet there's two working on cost savings.
