Puddle Lamps Not Working In New Wing Mirror

Puddle Lamps in the Wing Mirror - my original wing mirror didnt have puddle lamps but my new one does, however after fitting, it had the same electrical sockets as the last one, the puddle lamp isnt coming on when I unlock the doors or open the door.

Does any one know if it needs setting up at the manufacturers end, is there different software or some other technical gizmo.

I don't mean to sound patronizing but, have you looked if there is a bulb, wiring and its fittings inside?

Remove the lens by inserting a thin bladed screwdriver into the outermost end of the lens, and gently prying it away from the mirror housing. It should release fairly easily.

I'm presuming you only had one door mirror fitted after damaging the previous one? Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

This might answer a question in another thread, I recon the wiring will be missing off the oither end or It will need setting up at the Body controle module if it is there.

On my car there is the footwell light fittings but one part of the wiring is missing.

As a cheap fix, I wonder if it could be wired into the door bottom puddle lamp? I know that it won't come on as you unlock the door, but at least it would give extra light in the dark. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Yeah it did occur to me that a bulb may not have been included though with the cover being so hard to remove I had my doubts.

Anyway after finally getting the bulb cover off, this is a little tricky, I can confirm that there is a bulb inside.

So I can only assume that the internal wiring inside the car is different in some way on cars with working puddle lamps.

Thanks all for your helpful feedback, much appreciated.
