Hello all you Cvanners.

I can't stand Cvan because they take up too much room, weigh too much, slow you down, break if you take them off road and at least in Australia don't have that great a resale value. But if you like em good luck to you.

I prefer a Tvan myself http://www.tracktrailer.com Very Happy Thumbs Up

I can't stand Tvans as the back of them looks like the back of the bin wagon that collects our rubbish.
As for caravans taking too much space there was plenty of space in Australia when I lived there. What have you done with it all?

Australia 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Narvik Black

Hi waaxh03

For a start we have NOT overpopulated it like the UK Thumbs Up
Second, 75% of the continent is uninhabitable in the UK sense of civilization Thumbs Up
Third practicallity wins over appearance any day but good looks are nice Rolling with laughter
Fourth we still have wide open spaces where we can escape dick Censored heads which is why I need a Tvan and love it.

Rolling with laughter Smile Cool Laughing Regards Ub2

1st. The reason we are over populated in the UK is because we are over run by Aussie Bar Staff and Polish Potato Pickers

2nd. Only 25% of Austrailia is covered in Bar Staff training centres, leaving the other 75% to Dingos and Tvans and the odd croc or two Thumbs Up

Sadly Ub2 a large percentage of our so called civilization could do with being sent to your "uninhabitable" areas Whistle ....but i think we already tried that once already Thumbs Up

In the UK you'd struggle to find anywhere to go in the Tvan thingy. If we had the open spaces and allowed to camp anywhere I'd go for one, but as we don't my Fleetwod Heritage is great for year round trips. We're off to a new found CL, set in 30 acres at 4.50 per night 5 vans max -great fun D4 HSE Lux for me
FL2 HSE Zermatt & Alpacca for the wife now gone
Skoda Yeti L&K for the wife.

Ok Ub2. You have showed us where the dog sleeps overnight. Show us the caravan you sleep in. One like our British ones with a double bed, 2/3 bunks, full oven and grill, hot and cold shower, 240v AC/12v DC/ gas fridge, cassette toilet, full electrics and gas, blown air central heating, double glassing and an air-conditioning option.
You really know how to ruff it.
I would rather sleep in the FL2 than a Tvan

waaxh03

PS. Wouldn't the name Tvan be a better name used on a catering Trailer? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

i do like the way this topic starts with an apology, it's about time too.
alternative to caravaning :
drive to airport, get on plane, stay somewhere unusual, do unusual stuff, get on plane, drive home.
just a suggestion

Graeme

Your "alternative to caravaning" would seem to be a` no brainer `as a more enjoyable way to spend holiday time ...... unfortunately there are a group of people in society who made a catastrophic error of judgement several years ago ,maybe they were indoctrinated by there parents or swept up in the latest craze we will never know , for them holiday = c Censored ing Sad .
We should not ridicule or pity them but try and help them.... maybe a helpline could be set up, Caravaner's anonymous ?.Maybe give out a free atlas to show them what a large part of the world they will never get to see
.The choice is not Caravan Park or Benidorm ....the choice is Caravan park or The Serengeti plains,The Innca city of Machu Piccu,The Pyramids,Victoria Falls,The Tadj Mahall,The Galapagos Archipelago,Grand Canyon.......Disney world Laughing (not the Censored one in France).
Of course some of you have spent £10k + on your plastic sheds so you feel you have to use it but as with all addictions the first step is the hardest.... Sell It!
Come on you know you want to.... step into the light Whistle Thumbs Up

Warning

I have tried to sleep in the FL2, on a night out in the dales, instead of roughing it and sleeping in a tent, In my drunken state, I decided that sleeping in the FL2 would be great. WRONG.

I proceeded to lay the seats down climbed in, a stupidly double pressed the lock button on the fob, activating the alarm and the deadlocks.

Then proceeded to drop the keys down the back of the drivers seat.

Now this ain't an easy place to get to with the seats folded down and alarm going off at 1am and not been see straight.

My brother on the outside of the car laughing his arse off at drunken pi55 head lock in his own car!

So if you do insist on sleeping in the FL2, DON'T Lock the doors like me

I must be the only person in the world who can lock himself in his car Embarassed
