Have a look at oilman's post on http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/engines-tra...-use.html. He quotes an AA report (which may exist?) to show that it doesn't do any good and is just an expensive way of coating your oil filter. Mind you he does seem to be rather keen on 2-stroke oil.......

In order to protect your engine if you're going to keep the car, just change the oil at more regular intervals. I always changed mine every 5k and never had a problem with oil comsumption etc. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Hi PM

Nice info...

I used 2SO in my diesel for a couple of fill-ups. ANd didn't notice much change. Very new to a FL2 so what to be expected.

The last fill-up was Shell V-Power Diesel with NO 2SO and I'm sure the engine sounds louder and rattlier.

I've no evidence or official report - But I could write one Whistle 2002 Honda VFR800

I would certainly agree with this, may have been beneficial in engines 30 years or so ago, as was Molyslip which I used 30 years ago.

modern engines do not need these type of additives and indeed may cause more damage than good by blocking/narrowing oilways, etc
