Tyre load rating

I am trying to get 4 replacement tyres but I am having difficalty getting a choice of 235 /55 R19 105V spec tyres. I can get Contenental UHP which is what I have fitted just now but they did not last very long. I was trying to get Michelin Diamaris but there seems to be none anywhere in the country and Michelin can't give a delivery date. I can get Michelin Latitude Tour HP but only in a load rating of 101V.
Can anyone tell me if this is suitable as one tyre dealer has told me Yes and the other No?

Had a look at all the tyres I have. They are LR OE and the speed rating is 103 to 107's.

The Disco 3 is 111. I know there is a whole host of information relating to this on that site. In essence the D3 can take D4 tyres and hence people want to know if it's okay to take 109's. Some say it's not as the 20" tyre and rating isn't on the door pillar. I remember checking with LR and they said 109's were fine. The acid test is always if your insurance will take the risk when you tell them. If they do your fine. From a practical view point the 20" were fine for breaking, steering and tyre adhesion, just a little bumpy.

Tyre ratings are there for a reason. The larger the wheel the smaller the tyre wall. The load rating is just what it says. This is the weight what the tyre can safely handle. You can fit a higher load rating but it will cost you more money.
The speed rating is the maximum speed rotation the tyre can safely handle, again the higher the rating the more it will cost you. Warning, never go below the standard ratings for your car. Look in your hand book this will give you the standard speed and weight ratings. With this info you can surf the net and see what is available for your car good luck

Thats a problem my handbook only tells you the tyre sizes for 16" 17" and 18" wheels, then it only tells you the speed rating and not the load rating, Alex posted some info off the Land Rover site but I can't find it at the moment. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

I agree, but if you go into the actual load ratings, 109's to 111's only differ by 20kgs per tyre off the top of my head. Overall thats 80kgs, one persons weight? The safety tolerances always allow at least 10%, add that to the official ratings which are always subjected extreme conditions and I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

That apart, you dont want to get into bother with your insurance or the Filth, who could claim the tyres contributed to the accident and you end up with a charge or void insurance.

Found details and a table on a web site regarding a way to calculate your approx load rating. It stated calculate the max all up weight of your vehicle and devide by 4 . I was also able to get to a Landrover dealer and ask them them about tyres. They said that 101V tyres would be fine.

101 load index = 825kg per tyre

Max laden weight of FL2 2505 kg

I know what you are saying and it's been discussed on the D3/4 site. Personally, I wish it was as easy as that. Have a look at Al Copes thread on that site.
