Fully synthetic or semi-synthetic?

I know this discussion is in numerous posts/topics, but i'v trawled through many of them and cant come up with a straight answer.

I am going to change the oil and filters over the weekend and needed some advice on which oil to use? the manual states 5w-30 913-B spec, but is this fully synthetic or semi-synthetic?

I called my local dealer to ask what their recommendation is, and he stated 5w-40!! plus they only sell it in 1ltr top ups.

So which is it?

Thanks in advance.

Ford does not state semi or full synthetic, the choice is yours as long as it has Ford specification 913B and semi reaches that specification (as does full)

Go for Castrol Magnatec 5-30.Green container. It's Fully synthetic and shouldn't cost the earth. About low to mid twenty's for your 4l....so why not get two for your quantity and you'll have 2 or 3 litres left over for the future. Top ups etc. Our site sponsor would probably be a good option. Whether you would get your goods for your weekend change is possibly borderline?

I made a call to LandRover Customer Care, and they told me to use 5w-30 fully synthetic.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

Not stocked by my local petrol station.....I just checked oil level after 4500 miles from new, needs a half top up. Previous car owned from first service never needed a top up, I guess its early miles consumption..... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

For anyone who's interested Castrol Magnatec 5w30 Fully Synthetic (Recommended for 2.2TD4), is currently on offer at Costco only £20.30 for 4 ltr. Bargain.
