NFU -

Just had my renewal through from NFU. There's been no change to my details from last year and I've made no claims. My renewal is 60% !!!!! increase on last year Shocked Me (mid 40s and one named driver also now 40 in a very low crime rural postcode. )

Naturally I thought they'd made a mistake but on speaking to them I've found out that NFU no longer give a discount on LandRovers Question

Apparently I was the fifth caller in a row to express disbelief.

I've been really happy with the service from NFU over the last 4 years but it's not worth the extra over other insurers.

Anyone else had the same issue?

Not directly, but did get them to quote me when I renewed, to say they were miles out is an understatement. They also did not do limited mileages on any policy they could offer me at the time.

So ended up with LRover's own insurance as was the most reasonable way for me to have off road cover on a road car with decent policy terms. They were still dearer than the cheapest available on CompareThis&That.com.etc but I wanted a decent policy NOT just the cheapest. Wink

I pay £320 fully comp and renewed it in October 2010, i phoned NFU for a quote which came back at £999. I thought she was joking, she then tried to sell it me on the added benefits yeah right of NFU over my insurance company.

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of LR's policy terms (what's included) for the money I thought for a forty something & partner as we are, it was very good value also. Thumbs Up

I tried them years ago for my 90 tdi 50th HT and they where miles out so it pays to keep looking at everyone at renewal time.

I agree, I was with the 'Caravan Club' insurance and for the last 4 years have beaten everyone including when I had the TD4e, but their quote for the SD4 was £424 so it shocked me when LR came in so low for the same cover.
Might have been a sweetener and next year may be different.

Maybe I'm just a boring old fart living in a field then, as I renewed for my second year with LR in late Sept last year, and it had only gone up by £20 or so Laughing

SAGA increased my renewal from £197 to £276 for no apparent reason - they did enclose a price promise that they would better any comparable quote by £1.

LV= came up with £230 so I renewed with SAGA for £229 without quibble - comp with £150 excess and replacement car in the event of a claim and protected no-claims.

There are some good things about getting old but the list is getting shorter Big Cry MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
