Are mud flaps worth the bother?

Simple question. Is it worth the bother buying and fitting mud flaps? 2002 Honda VFR800
2002 Toyota Celica 140 Silver (mid life crisis - again!)
2007 FL2 GS Manual Army Reconnaissance Green + freel2.com sticker

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Indus Silver

The back ones are very simple to fit, but don't seem to really stop any spray. The rear still gets just as filthy (although I do like the look with them on).

Yes...

Ours has them on and stays cleaner much longer than one without that I borrowed.

Also, less road rash behind the wheels from dust and stones being chucked up and even in some situations up the doors Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I bought LR rears and copy fronts, there's no difference they fit well.

I have some copy rears for sale

Mine are copy rears and are perfect, you would never know. Its your chance to grab a bargain from mcphersonstrut.

I fitted front and rear LR mudflaps,front are more difficult to fit. Do they work? I dont think I would bother again!!!! They look OK.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think I'll run the car for a few weeks and see how dirty it gets. I'm not going off-road but live near semi-rural area with frequent muddy puddles to drive through. 2002 Honda VFR800

You might benefit from the front bib spoiler if you drive through puddles lots as they stop so much water spray forwards and up on to the window Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My FL2 HSE looks better I think since I fitted mine. They help a little bit to keep the car clean on road. Off road they do make a bigger difference.

2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Had them on my first Freelander, didn't bother on my second. Can't say I've noticed much difference and both Freelanders were Baltic Blue.

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

I vote for mud flaps, they do protect the paintwork to a degree and look good on the car, along with roof rails and the side protection strips.....but then I am biased! Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....
