My SD4 mpg continues to improve

My journey to work is always a reliable indicator of a car's mpg. Over the years most diesel cars I have owned generally achieve their EU average as the journey of 26 miles is a similar mix to the test.

On Thursday, I left a bit later, the traffic was a bit lighter and I did the journey in less than an hour (average speed just over 30mph). It normally takes 1 hr 15 to 1 hr 30 and I get about 40 -42 mpg.

See for yourself:

Up to the last 1/4 mile I was up to over 47, but the final crawl into the city centre put paid to that. Trevor

Can a remap be done to improve mpg?
I am averaging around 30-35mpg around town but wondered if it would be worth ivesting in a a remap if the mpg could be improved considerably?
Has anybody any experience, I think somebody mentioned Dynachip in another forum?
Thanks

Did you reset the ounter while the engine was warm or cold? I find that I can get pretty decent figures as long as the engine is warm - start from cold though and it ruins it!

Either way - pretty impressive... Thumbs Up thats a whole 15mpg more than me, and at £90 now to fill the tank and only do 450 miles its starting to make a difference!!!! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Yes - overall I'm not quite 39mpg brimming the tank at about 500 miles. This was just one journey to work, this morning I got 40.1mpg. Trevor

Yes cold engine. My first 1/2 mile is downhill (very downhill), which helps. And remember this is only a random jouney to work, not an overall average. Trevor

^I take it your figures are for a TD4 and not an SD4 Question

Thats the sort of mpg I was getting from the D3 today coming up the M6 a 70 ish mph, using the right foot rather than cruise control gives good mpg Thumbs Up ______________________

I don't think the necessary protocols for SD4 have been released yet. Opinion seems to suggest that there is little room for remapping anyway - especially on the performance/power side.

Very jealous of all the above figures! Just short of 2k miles and mine seems stuck on about 30mpg - and I'm no boy racer! If this carries on my SD4 is going in for a check. At this rate I could have gone for a D3!

Actually I'm also routinely using with the RoadTrip LE app on the iPhone which indicates that the 'real' figures are about 2mpg WORSE than indicated by the onboard computer. Freelander 2 SD4 HSE - Ipanema Sand - MD co-pilot - Springer Spaniel in boot - Swift Challenger on the back!

After about 2000 miles I'm currently getting about 33 MPG from my SD4 which is the same as I was getting from my 57 TD4 manual.
