I really hope it was not the same rattle my brothers Xc60 just had, as it needed a new engine at the timing belt snapped Neutral

Who, (private or dealership) did you buy it from ? Did you get any type of warranty with them, like Landrover approved used you might have overlooked ?

Keep us informed !! Good luck!!! Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeah here's hoping it's not as nasty as it sounds For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

Sounds expensive. It cost over a grand to repair an Astra I owned that lost it's cam belt. All it had done was bent some valves so it still turned over. The lack of engine movement sounds ominous to me.Big Cry

thanks for the sympathy and empathy, i do think that it a new engine as it wont turn over,

if the ecu had switched off would that prevent turn over or am i thinking S£$t and the lack of movement is going to keep me awake Surprised

however if the belt has gone the i may lookat replaceing the whole engine as dont think the engine will be the same ever and i intend to hang onto this motor as it has a lot of factory extras that i may not come across again

i belive that now adays labour wise its quicker to exchange the engine and fit than take time to strip and rebuild with the same engine

btw thought swmbo was going to hit the roof but no she basicaly said its happened lets get through this and move on!!!

will keep you all posted

first thing i did was get the dipstick out and was oil all over it as it should also it does get checked regulary as well and so did the aa man

after thnking about it the engine has been a little ticky over the last few days which prompted check oil it may be the head gave in due to wear by the former owner but thats not realy the point ( ive had i 6 weeks independant dealer)

i refuse to slag the car off as at the end of the day it will be fixed and lets face it it could have been any make that did this and as we all know if you buy a second hand car no matter how careull you are it is always a risk you take

still love the car and she will rise once again even stronger than before Thumbs Up
