Key Fob stuck in holder - software bug ?

Have a weird one.

When driving around recently I have had on three occasions the key fob not be released when powering off the car.

Doing some empirical testing it seems to follow this pattern.

- Pickup daughter from childcare, drive for 30 mins, during which time she plays with the black lock / unlock toggle on her door (kiddie lock is on so no risk of door opening).

- I use the e mode to turn off the engine while waiting at traffic lights.

- Stop car at destination - key then won't release.

If I don't have daughter in back and I use the e mode as before then it is fine - seems to be related to using the black handle to lock and unlock the door while either in motion or in e mode.

When it happens locking/unlocking using the console buttons does not help, neither does turning engine on and off, or even driving around till the doors autolock then stopping. All I can do is sit in the car for 10 minutes doing nothing until the key suddenly pops out - some kind of safety mode ?

Anyway its a serious pain in he a** and just wondering if I am the only one who has seen it. Talked to dealer who has not heard of the issue, but will talk to their service people next week.

Thank,

I had similar kind of thing. 1 of my keys, worked fine, open/close, put it in and turn car on etc. but it would not eject. It had to be pulled hard and wiggled around for it to come out.

Took it to the dealers and the tech was just as confused so he just got me a brand new key programmed it, tested it for a bit going in and out and its been ever since.
