you would have to speak to them, but i'm sure BBS give discounts to the sister forums too, how much though is another question.

Even with a discount its too many £££ for me to even consider it Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Folks from the German Freelander forum are still skeptical on functionality of this kind of post-factory fitted heaters because of the said 'CAN-Bus'-problem, which allegedly floods the fault recorder.

Did the engine also starts the heater automatically?
Because if the heater is independant of car's systems and you start it manually anytime you want, then cannot be stored any errors...

No, Alex, the heater is switched on by using / programming the remote control only. Of course, both the engine and heater can be run simultaneously, if needed. In this case, it functions as an auxiliary heater. Till now, there are no visible interferences or errors. When I recently visited a LR service station because of massive DPF problems and for sure they must have checked the engine data recorder, nothing suspicious with regard to functioning of the heater was reported to me.

Then the heater can't generate any errors on the car's systems as long as they (the heater and the car) are not interconnected electronically.

Alex did you get this sorted out?, I just discovered that I have the OEM webasto on my motor... Its a bit late now this year of course, but it would be fun to see how much it would cost to get the webasto on remote start before the engine is running. (Saving for a wedding and summer cabin at the moment)

Yes, I did.
As I wasn't willing to pay the indecent figures asked by various, including the dealer, I've built my own microcontroller based module and I'm starting the webasto using the car's remote control.

LoL yeah I thought it looked a bit expensive from what I had heard.. just in the small chance that I may be able to build and code a microcontroller, did you do a writeup anywhere? how did you get on with it trowing error codes etc?

With it, who, throwing error codes? The webasto device? If yes, it behaves and throws errors if there is a problem with it.
I just start it with my device... Just like an engine. Did the engine throws error codes when you start it? Only if it has problems...

Based on my design, a friend from here (cata26bcn) also built one and is working and using it OK.
If you decide to build it, I can put at your disposal all the necessary things: schematics, sources, binaries, ... everything.
Just not ask me to build it for you... Laughing

I was originally going to install these on my Freelander 1 but never got around to it. If you're interested in them, PM me.

Was looking for £60 for the timer and £80 for the Telestart. I'll sell the pair for £120. (+ P&P/shipping of course! Laughing ).

The FL2 needs an T91, not an T90...

And as I was telling above, I've made/built my own "telestart" module from scratch, so I'm not interested anymore on this...
Still, thank you very much for the offer!

ooooh so close, I would have had that off you in a flash!.. where is the module connected?

The error codes I was asking about were about the telestart, and I was wondering if it produced any after you installed it?... what button are you using to switch it on? the lights?

How does the fuel supply work to the webasto? does it have its own pump or work inline? (does the car need to be running?)

No, no error codes.
Yes, I am using the car's remote control on the ligths button.
The module is connected with the car in the same place where the original telestart would be. In fact the module is emulating the telestart, using the very same w-bus protocol.
The webasto is a completely independant system, with its own fuel pump and can function (after proper activation) without the engine running.

ooh nice, so its just a case of driving to dealer to reprogram, connect up and press the lights button to get it running!. Did you manage to find a way to get the cabin fan to run as well or is it just engine preheat you have?

Just the webasto... I was interested in heating up the engine for an easy start as the cabin will be quickly warmed up by the HVAC after the engine start.
