2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

19 inch Tyres - what do you use?

Not sure what all you guys use who have 19s but there seems a distinct lack of choice for 235/55/19.

Came across these in the US (can't get in the UK) http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?deta...p;dsco=135 which you could import for £175 ish a tyre and being a big toyo fan from racing etc it's tempting.

prob not the best course of action but there really doesn't seem much out there other than the contis which i don't rate at all.

What do you use? The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

Mine has the Continental CrossContact UHP's on it from stock. I don't think many manufacturers have this size. 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

Go for the 255x50x19. They look nice on our cars.
Toyo Proxes or Pirelli Scorpion zero. (or even the Continental CrossContact UHP.....) FL2, TD4 HSE

really?! Why?
Here in Norway that is not an issue with the insurance company. All you have to do is stay within the 5% +- "rolling Length" of the oem tyre. This because of the reading on the speedometer. oh and also stay inside the wheel arches. I run 275\45\20 on mine FL2, TD4 HSE

Over here they are really fussy that you use what the manufacturer recommends, not on brand but on width, profile etc. if you have an accident they would use things like this to invalidate the claim.

I have a friend at work whos policy was made void when he had an accident on the motorway as he had swapped the run flats on his car for non runflats even though they were the same size, brand etc. The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

No significant difference in rolling circumference, only 11mm, in fact a worn tyre would give you more. As long as the extra width doesn't scrub anything it should be OK, I've never had a problem with my insurers as it's completely legal so seems like they make their own rules up as they go along.

Thanks for that, still makes me nervous i.e imagine going into a stealer with a heldex problem and they spot that the tyres are not as per "the book", you can just see the the excuses coming The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

call your insurance and ask. If they say it's ok, make them send you an email where they confirm that it's ok. FL2, TD4 HSE

Sorry, I tried to figure it out by looking at the numbers on the tires, but couldn't figure it out. So, here's the information off of them:

DOT HD8F 987X
235/55 R19 101H
E2 0207534 0204510-S

Hope that helps you. I'm assuming that they are "H" rated. They are OEM tires.

Interesting! I was under the impression that the top speed of the LR2 was around 120mph? So, why the need for tires rated to 149mph?
