Having read the other similar topic which is pretty much all auto (with good reason of course) I wonder what difference it makes with the manual gearbox.

I have no intention of trying it in this icy weather but assuming I turn DSC off and use sand mode, do you guys think there will be a big improvement in acceleration?

It dose rev freer but you still need to get through the gears, and the manual is not a fast box !!

Sand mode will give you better acceleration, particularly from rest. Turning the DSC off is not to be recommended having tried just that recently on a slippery track in an auto and almost lost the back end as i accelerated. To be fair I was trying it to see what happened and now DSC is staying firmly on especially in the current icy/snowy conditions.

Don't turn the DSC OFF - unless you are STUCK in deep powder snow, deep dry fine sand, or deep loose gravel. In those conditions it will help you get out when you're stuck. It is not designed to be an acceleration booster.
