Strange non start

After driving for an hour, i went to restart my FL2 after 30 mins and all i could hear was a relay clicking in/out while depressing the start button. I took out the fob and tried again and she fired up normally.
The car was fine for the rest of the day.
Anyone else come across this?

An early version of the ECU firmware that I had on my MY56 used to occasionally cause starting problems similar to that. Hasn't been an issue with subsequent updates. If you have an early model with old firmware, it could be that?

It's an 08MY and it's never done it before. It definately was a relay coil pulling in and out several times a second.

Probably a little data glitch then - might never happen again.

The other day, I had a strange starting thing which was new to me. I had stopped in a queue of traffic at some lights facing down hill. I was expecting a minute or 2 delay so stopped the engine. (I often do a manual stop/start!) When the traffic started moving, I let the brake off and started rolling forward, then pressed the start button. The engine cranked but stopped as soon as I let go. The engine hadn't started so I did it again - same result. Third press, I held the button until it started and all was well.
It's as though the car thinks the engine is running if you're rolling, but it's clearly confused as it would normally stop the engine if it thought it was already running?
I know this isn't answering your issue, other than to say it's not a perfect system....

Faulty starter button - there is a previous post on the subject, identical symptoms. Took a LR dealership 10 days to find it in association with LR Technical Department.

Ticktock,
Many thanks for that. Thumbs Up I'll wait until it happens again.
I can well understand why it took so long to find, they must have tried EMS ecu and all sorts.

steering lock landing in the wrong place can cause problems too, easing the wheel round releases it, just like normal cars when the key wont turn due to the lock At work
