A couple of years ago after doing my own servicing I used the Brazil / work-around re-set method to clear the service message and have serviced the car a least once in between with no irritating service required messages.

Recently the dreaded message returned and no matter what work-around I tried I have failed to clear it so today I have had it cleared by my local indie. We have concluded that the normal countdown was cleared but the oil degradation message was not clearing in the workaround (car is MY13).

Asked me if I had recently disconnected the battery as it threw up a load of fault codes, so doing a hard-reset may not be a good idea after all  FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
