Could explain something that has always bucked a trend between Auto and Manual cars. (until the VAG DSG gearbox that is)

From the LR website:

Performance and Fuel Economy


0-60mph Manual 10.9 secs Auto 10.5 secs

The Auto is marginally quicker to 60 than the manual... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

The auto has a torque boost and so develops more torque than the manual.

I can confirm - having driven auto and manual back to back - the auto feels much quicker than the manual.

Anyway - whatever is the cause - turbo lag, dual mass flywheel, the mapping to reduce torque at low rpm - whatever it is - it's Censored pathetic. I hope it improves as the engine loosens up. 3500 miles (ish) so far.

The manual is very quick, when Mrs G is on the way to the sales Rolling Eyes

Was playing with ours today going into corners in too higher gear etc, the engine obviously slowed and clattered a bit but the was no apparent lag it soon got up to speed again.


Young Finn (age 2) was in the back watching cars coming the other way, saying car, car, car, car, car, car, but if we met a defender he said 'lang-wover" so he is becoming a bit of a fan. Laughing

annoyingly he calls 'MY' Fl2 'mummies black car' Evil or Very Mad At work

Mine hasn't & over 4200 miles. It is going to the dealer on June the 10th & I plan to tell them they can keep it till they modify it or I will cancel the finance payments. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Executive Valeter - I would be very interested to see what they say - and what they can do about it.
If it's anything like the vibration through the whole cabin when the engine is under load (especially if you change when the green eco light tells you to) - then I guess it will be 'There is no problem' and 'There is nothing we can do about it".
