I've just noticed that on our recently acquired 07 FL2 that the wiring that goes between the body and nearside rear door is being pinched between the body and door.

For some reason the rubber or wire is causing the rubber to spring towards the rear of the car and into the way of the door seal.

I've uploaded a couple of pictures of it, you can see how even with the door open the rubber tube stays deformed, leading me to think that it's been like it for quite a while. I'm a little concerned that with time, the wiring will fail, and also that it will lead to leaks.

Is it just our car or has anyone else experienced this?

aj, just checked mine and all is well. As an observation, yours is being squeezed between the frame and the rubber door seal so I think it's maybe not as bad as it looks. Obviously it will be the electric window and door lock wires. You say it's recently acquired, if that's a garage take it back for their suggestions.

We bought from a trader rather than a garage.

But the car still has a couple of weeks of warranty left and is going in on Monday for a few things to be looked at, so this is going to be added to the list.

I'm concerned that in a couple of years time, the car will start refusing to lock when it can't tell that the door is properly closed, because the wires have broken/shorted.

could it be possible that there has a repair been done in the past to that door and the rubber hasn't been replaced properly ?

It's possible but there are no signs of a repair anywhere.

It feels like the wires are too long and pushing the rubber tube that way, and I wondered whether the wires have been disturbed somewhere in the car, perhaps when the sunroof recall was done, and maybe have sagged down to there. Does anyone know where the wiring goes from the B post, up or down?

I would imagine it would be easy enough to pop the rubber out of the door/pillar and inspect the situation.
