2010 Freelander 2 TD4 Sport Manual Santorini Black
Roof Bars

I have just bought a Freelander 2 Sport Le and was wondering if people could help me.
I have moved from a Nissan Pathfinder and love my Freelander however i go camping with my two sons and dog and find the boot a bit small. i have a load guard so i can build the stuff up to the roof but i also have a roof box.

My question is this;

Can you buy after marked roof rails to fit the landrover cross bars onto? I dont like the length and height of the Landrover ones.
or has anyone got expierence of the Thule bars that attach under the door top?

Going camping in to week so need to sort out ASAP.

Cheers Cool

I've got some of those, haven't got round to putting them on yet.

On the manual it shows that the clip needs to go over the door seal, but when I tried it seemed to be a bit odd.

How do you get one with them charliefoxtrot999? Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Ive got no problems with the fit.Just take care not to over tighten on the foot.I was apprehensive at first but the rubber seems ok does'nt leak but you do get wind noise with all the metal on the roof! 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

Boof - I got the ones with the Torque Indicators when I ordered them (foot pack 754 I think). Very easy to slot together, except for the locks - Don't try and use the black keys to push the lock barrels in, make sure you use the silver key! Wasn't obvious from the instructions. Also, I noticed that the bar measurement for setting the foot distance on the bar to go on the rear seemed wrong to me - I had to set mine 1cm wider in total to make them fit. Once on very solid and look quite smart.

Mojo,

When you say you set yours 1cm wider is that on both bars? If you get the chance can you check yours and post the actual settings you use, please?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get them to fit? They seem to catch the inside of the top of the door. Big Cry

I'm off camping on friday and at this rate i'll be travelling really light!

Boof - Just checked my bars - Front ones set at 45.5 cm as per instructions, rear ones set at 43 cm which is 0.5cm more on each side. To fit on roof measured bar spacing using the excellent paper tape measure starting with the front bar first. Took me 1/2 hour first time round and a lot of jiggling of the bar, will take 5 mins next time. Just make sure you fully undo the tightener bolt until the bracket drops down fully to fit as they won't go on unless you do this. Couldn't get the torque thing to work really so just tightened until I thought they felt solid. Be very careful to follow the instructions on page 6 about hooking the gripper bracket thing (can you tell I'm technical?) over the rubber strip at the top of the door frame, it must be exactly as shown. Also, don't forget to clean the bit of paintwork which the rubber feet will make contact with as any dirt trapped could damage your shiny new motor!
Cheers. mojo.

I have the Landrover ones which I keep in the boot. However for my bike racks i have Halford/Thule type which I had from my old model of Freelander. All I did to make the feet fit the roof bars was to open them up in the vice a little but I would think that you can get the proper feet from Halfords.
The Landrover roof bars would not allow me to fix four bick racks on as I need the extra width from over hanging the roof rails. Simon
