Towbar electric problem

I took off the towbar and electric loom which was fitted on the last Freelander 2 SE (07 plate), and refit it on my new Freelander 2 XS.
Tow bar fitted without any problem, and loom plug into LR system. But lighting board does not work.
Any suggestion please.

Only a guess, but did you change the fuses over in the boot? Two 15amp and a 40amp.

There are only 2 fuses in the towbar loom and not blown.
Where in the boot to change the fuses?

The ECU will need programming so that it can see the towbar electrics plugged into it just like if you install a new device to your pc, it needs to be told what to do with a software update Thumbs Up

tractorman1244,
Do you have single or double sockets ?? If double have you wired the up the right way ?? single dose the light board double will do the caravan.

There is 2 fuse in the tow bar wiring loom with a control unit and 2 earth wires , Plus 2, 15amp fuse and a 40 amp fuse in the fuse box in the boot just next to the spare wheel. which need to fitted.

1. 15amp fuse goes to in FA 9
1. 15amp fuse goes in to FB 5
and a 40 amp fuse goes in to FA 11 (square green one )
see your (owners hand book)

Don't forget to discount the car battery when wiring up Double check all wires before reconnecting. plug the multi plug and test.
Mine worked first time with out any updates needed. ( fitted it last week)
Should only take about 45 minutes for the wiring and about the same for the bar etc.
all the best JP Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Thanks for all your replies.
The loom was unplugged from previous Freelander 2 SE and I just re plug into the new Freelander 2 XS .
Is it just the fusees I need to get it to work?
Do I still need to disconnect the car battery before plug into the LR system?
Thanks once again.

Looks like its just the fuse's missing ??

I would have the battery disconnected before plugging anything in and double check all the wires are right and fuse, plug in the multi plug and the reconnect the battery.

I think you only need to reset the time, but you do loose the last reset of the trip mileage, Avg mpg etc,

I hope all goes well and glad to be of help.

All the best Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
