Front 12v Socket - (stuck 12v accessory)

Ok. Help required on this one.

I've managed to get my iPod charger 'stuck' in the front 12v socket. No idea how this can happen. I plugged it in as normal but it now will not pull out. Don't want to destroy it yet.

With a touch of pulling, I almost pulled the socket out of the centre console, but the charger is still stuck fast. It won't push in, pull out or twist around.

Any ideas of how this could have happened? And more importantly how I can get this out?

I've tried to see how to remove the whole socket out of the centre console, but no idea how to do this. Pulling it out, there seems to be something on the socket stopping it coming out - and besides, i don't know what wires connect to the socket behind.

Helpful advice very much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like one of the two connectors that earth on to the side of the socket has popped out of the ipod charger and gone through one of the slits in the socket so the more you pull the further it goes in and that will also be stopping you pull the socket out of the centre console.

Perseverance and patience sorry. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Check on the tech-info site for removal procedure. Looks like you'll have to take the socket out then twiddle with the contact to push it back in before you remove the charger. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

My charger got stuck today and we are having a nightmare trying to remove it. Did you manage to get yours sorted in the end?

I've still not sorted it. I asked the dealer to look at it, but they wanted £60 to change it. So I have my iPhone charger permanently plugged in!

If anyone gets a way to sort it...... let me know. '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto
