Before I started to push a pen around for a living I spent 10+ years mechanic'ing on axles - Off highway stuff now they are 'heavy' tyres, if it starts to fall let it go Laughing If your playing around changing wheels that often make yourself an overgrown catapult from steel tubing a 'V' with a long handle lifts the wheel/tyre combo a treat Thumbs Up

Thanks, I will.

The tyres on the rims are LR originals. Pirelli Scorpions 255/50/ZR20. The only thing that could possibly be a bit iffy is the load. They are marked 109Y, which is fine for FFRR and D4's, but in some quarters it's said the D3 requires 111's. I'd argue they aint much in it, especially asthe marking on the tyre wall indicated a load of 1030kgs, which exceeds 111's and in any case, I defy someone to say the old D3 is heavier that the D4.

Gonna have to check it out a bit more. I can't see there could be much in it.

cheers, I did check some figures. That basically the difference between an adult person in the car or not!

That apart, I am having difficulties finding whats recommended for the car. After all it wont be what you can get away with, more what LR recommend, especially re the insurance.

Just to let you know, I checked the wheels out with Land Rover and they say the alloy/tyre combination are okay and listed for Discovery 3's 2009 as well as Discovery 4's, although I've never seen it. I pointed out the weight difference and that doesn't seem to be a factor. I also phoned up my insurance company and they are quite happy with the alloys, again after pointing out the potential problems, they got onto their underwriter and were so happy they will send me an updated schedule and not charge me any more premium.
