Seems a bit obtuse, there is a bug in the system as supplied by Land Rover yet you have to pay to get it corrected. I think the "fit for purpose" clause comes in here.

Don't tell Microshaft, they may try and apply this to their updates Censored Prog rock is cool! Smile

I had the "steering col locked" come up on my 59 plate FL2.

I spoke to landrover assistance who told me to call and speak to the dealer ree this LTB00290 bulletin.

The dealer told me it was a service upgrade item (ie when you book a service the plug in to the computer automatically does the upgrade). Its also chargeable and takes .5hr
The vin end they gave me was H216517.

It seems that if you service your car yourself you still need to book in to find out what computer upgrades etc are needed.

Meant to add it was whilst driving. Also wondered if LTB00290 is something an independant can do.

I had "steering column locked" when driving in France towing my caravan last year ! that was 2 days after it failed to start to do with the immobilizer and only a week after the EGR valve failed whilst also towing in France.

It ended up with many new bits and dash panel as well but this fault hasn't shown its self again.

Its a known issue.

therefore towing wrecks your immobiliser, EGR valve and steering column - do not tow At work

My wife has a 2008 FL2 and occasionally gets "Steering Lock" message when the fob is in and the engine want start. Had a new lock fitted, no cure, in order to start the car have to remove battery lead for a couple of minutes then the car will start. This is not a good situation.Any help out there would be great.Taking it to a main dealer for a diagnostic check.
