Andy, the forgetfullness is due to either excess age or excess alchohol or a combination of both.

Guys,
don't rename me "the Oracle". I just took it from lr-club.ru and have translated English.
Russian Freelander's owners have similar problems and a bad LR's service

Well if lar just copied stuff from the Russian LR club, seems to me that they know a lot more about Land Rovers than we lot do Shocked - who what should know our own vehicles Shocked - Good to have lar on the inside to feed us useful info, unlike some of the duff stuff thats floating about Laughing

Andy I'd add to your list the official LR Dealers and Service Centers in our part of CH as the "shower" that did the first annual service last November forgot to reset the service indicator. This led to a recent event where an "Oil Change" advisory message appeared on the dash info screen. Evil or Very Mad Incompetent or just inattentive to detail - who really knows - possibly both are in play here.

Our know how

1.Insert the key
2.With off ignition press trip recorder reset button
3.Keep pressed trip recorder reset button and press Start longer 2 seconds
4.There displays blinking message Service. After finishing of blinking release the button
5.There displays message DIST
6.A short press reset button will change messages DIST -> DATE -> END
7.Select DIST and hold the button longer 5 seconds there will display Reset and occur reset a
service distance
8.Select DATE and hold the button longer 5 seconds there will display Reset and occur reset a
service interval
9.Select END and hold the button longer 5 seconds there will finished the service mode

Thanks Lar, worked a treat Thumbs Up

Just wondering if the cars management knows that my service schedule is based on time and not mileage, as it would not allow me reset the DIST but allowed me to rest the DATE then END.

Dead easy and job done!

Thanks

Again.

Worked first time for me. Thanks.

Oil Service Reset is a little different to the normal service reset (at least in my MY11).

This works for me

Oil Service Reset

found this on another site and it was the same procedure I used. took more like 1 min to reset rather than the 15 seconds for this guy

To switch off the service light in your MK6 or MK7 Transit: (worked for FL2 MY11 TD4)

1. Service it
2. Switch on ignition but don't start engine
3. Press Down Brake pedal and Throttle pedal fully, and hold till service light flashes this may take up to a minute, but usually about 15 seconds
4. Switch off igniton

Job Done

I have carried out the re-set procedure for both DIST and DATE and it appeared to work fine. However when I now start the car each time it doesn't show on the dash like it used to. Can someone remind me if it only displays when it gets close or overdue or should it be displaying it every time the car starts, even if 364 days until the service?

If you have reset the service message, it will not appear again until 11 months time Thumbs Up

Service Warning Reset.

Hi all,
Just serviced my 2011 SD4 XS and I then came across the old chestnut of resetting dash warnings.
I have seen several methods shown here and elsewhere, so here is how I managed to reset both warnings - in simple terms !
The warning in the info window - centre one on binnacle - can be reset as follows. It does not reset the service notice that appears in the right hand window - that needs the second method listed here.
Put key in its dock.
Switch on ignition, but don't start engine - in my case (automatic) press and hold start button until ignition comes on WITHOUT pressing footbrake. Dash comes to life ! Release start button.
Press down Brake and Throttle pedals together and hold down until service light flashes - mine almost took one minute to flash but hold and be patient.
Then switch ignition off. Result.
Heres the one that causes confusion as many posts seem to think that only a dealer or specialist can reset the service countdown indication. Right hand window "service" warning.
Read this through a few times as you need to do steps one after the other - wait too long for the next step as you try to read through this and the step by step routine returns the indication to normal and you have to start again !
Insert key into dock.
Press and hold the trip reset button - below the service word !
While holding it pressed turn on the ignition -as you did above - do not start the engine.
The "service" word on the dash will flash after a few seconds.
Release the button.
Now, press and press the reset button which will cycle you through DIST, DATE and END. Cycle through them if you want until you are ready to HOLD on the one you want.
When you select the one you want, keep the button held in until the word reset shows.
Release the button.
Then press the button and cycle through the Date, Dist and End and hold the button down at END until the display shows the newly reset number of days or distance until next service is due !!!
Turn off the ignition. Finished.
You can go back through the whole process and reset both date and distance if you want.
This is posted on the site in a couple of locations, but there are doubts as to whether you need one or both methods or indeed if a dealer is required.
Just confirming that for me, doing both reset ALL the dash warnings and no dealer required.
