Considering companies like Viper offer a similar aftermarket product for $499 + $29 a year, its worth a try!.............just don't tell that mobile number to anyone!!!!

1. Some people like to start the car ready so it will be nice and warm for them

2. Some people who drives a diesel engine car prefers to have the engine tick over a little while before driving off, this will save that person just sitting there waiting

I always start my car and leave it running for at least 5 minutes as I live at the bottom of a mile long 1 in 8 hill and don't wanna pull the bol cks out it while cold-as the oil advert says 75% of engine wear occurs while the engine is still warming up.
There have been times when I've been side tracked and left it running for hours-good job I live in the country and park 200yrds from the road.

Better to have a engine (+ coupe) warmer fitted - Saves the environment, saves on your pocket on (start-up) fuel costs, you get into a warm car so you save the battery, no scraping of windows so saves damage to glass and wiper blades - No need for silly things like heated steering wheels etc, and it’s nice, warm and snug on a cold day, so you can forget gloves, long Johns and woolly socks

Leaving the car running to warm up is old fashioned and quite unacceptable in these times of environment awareness  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

not full read the OP thread myself, but the problems i can see are

1)How does the mobile press the brake or clutch pedel which are required to start the car

2)What happens if the Mobiles service provider rings offering an upgrade

3)What happens to your car when some chav nicks it and the insurance company don't pay out

4)if your cold in the car buy a warmer coat, hat scarf  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I presume it starts the engine, but keeps the doors locked? It would be ok behind a locked gate or a long drive but you couldn't do it if ya parked on a road.
1) some scrote will brick ya window and be off with ya pride and joy.

2) There is a motoring offence called 'Quiting' leaving the engine running with no one in the drivers seat-during a purge in manchester 10 years ago a copper tried giving me a ticket for leaving my van running with the missus in passanger seat while a went in a shop-she only let me off after I told her I was in the jewelers picking up an engagement ring that was being resized.

Then a week later I did get a ticket at 4am while delivering newspapers-Picking a bundle up then putting it on a shop step 5 foot from the vans side door took me 15 seconds!

This only starts the engine, it does not have any effect on the rest of the car, so the doors will stay locked. Does the FL2 have an immobilizer, if so, it will still be on as the key is not inserted, so the car cannot be driven off without first having the key in. As for pressing the clutch/brake to start the engine, this would probably mean an addition circuit to be added.

As for nuisance calls, I guess its best to use a PAYG sim card, so no upgrade bothers. In the test the guy performed, there was an actual sequence of priority for the ignition system, for example, the normal key in ignition would override all other input.
