2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red
What to Do

I am driving round in my manual Freelander 2 se and loving every minute of it. It was bought specifically to tow the caravan but now not sure I could be without one.

My dilema as always is should I buy another Freelander 2 but automatic or should I take the plubge and buy a Disco 3..

I`m told the auto is better all round especially towing and the disco has loads of space but I have to admit that the suspension problems put me off etc and the sheer size would only be best utilised when towing.

Chicken and Egg really - lol

Going from a manual to auto myself I know the change is for the best Thumbs Up

Only you can decide if you need the extra space or not of the D3

you also say D3 and not D4, the latter been a whole lot nicer car with a nice 3.0 engine

My mind was made up when i saw a D4, that a D3 will date quite quickly IMO and I went fl2 auto and love it for towing and driving as it's more nibble Thumbs Up

I might have to go D4 or RRS when it's time to change, but I would have to look 2nd hand as they cost a fortune, but the boots loads bigger Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I quote D3 purely on cost - if looking at D3 would be a 56 plate HSE or therabouts

I love the freelander but strangely still stare longingly at the D3 with its extra space and seats but then its more boxy than the lovely styling of the Freelander 2

We got our car to pull the van and the auto just makes the towing effortless, unless your van is the size of a bungalow the Freely will be fine, the only downside is the space which obviously the Disco will have more of.
So if you've enough space in the Freely stick with that but go auto Thumbs Up It's size is also better for supermarket car parks !

you don't like Disco's aswell as RRS's Laughing

the thing that puts me off both of them is the EPB, seems to fail all the time, due to design fault and LR now say its a servicable part, so not covered under warranty.

Supposed to have redesigned it for the MY2010, but i wait to see what happens

Guess thats another Plus point for the Freelander2 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

discos - big heavy , future air suspension bills to worry about Confused

Freelanders lighter, more nimble, unable to tow the larger vans , perfect Thumbs Up At work
At home

As you know the RRS and Disco 3 are the same ish under the skin.

Check my pics I've had the lot and done a fair bit of off roading in a number of them there clowns shoes, the RRS was the least reliable car I've ever owned and the D3 wasn't far behind.....

When they work there great, when they dont there one Censored - check my posts on RRS forum

Stick for FL2's and FFRR's!
