Don't think that sort of technically counts for us mere mortals. I mean, good luck to you, but unless you want half the forum down as your family, it ain't gonna benefit us, unless you have a cunning plan.....

Yes, you're quite right, it's just not a deal we can all get I suppose. Any jobs going there? How long do you have to work to qualify?

That makes the cash price 21,750 for a new GS on the road with black paint and privacy. If I go for the zero percent 60/40 deal, then it shoots up 1,175. You dont get something for nothing. Madam still wants a better price all round. I dispair!

Carnoch,

Jeremy will be calling you this morning.

Bit of background, I was attempting to secure a new car deal. There was some confusion. In essence, Huddersfield is still cheaper.

Spooky, but LR Customer Services phoned this afternoon. I had a good old moan to them, for whats it's worth, about how the Customer Support Allowance of 1k that the dealers get for a cash deal, but don't if it's the free zero percent deal, which means that us as customers are in effect paying for credit when we shouldn't. Yes, they were aware and it was an unfortunate consequence. I mean has anyone worked out that the APR based on this 1k, it's actually round about 18%. So in essence, you'd be cheaper taking a loan with the bank and thats just plain stupid. Trading Standards should be looking into that! Evil or Very Mad

I did pump them for what the next quarters offers might be, but in honesty I don't think they knew. I think the 2nd quarters deals will be better than this and yes, I am taking into account supply and demand that some dealers have shoved under my nose in an inducement to buy. I have the time to read historic sales figures and all the guff surrounding these things. It's an educated guess, but then more educated than some of the dealers I've come across.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Aintree Green

Nope sorry not got a recent deal. I thought I was going to be lured by my local dealer as they sent a text saying they wanted my car...made me think well if there is an offer to be had I'll ring them....I did, left a message and then no one called me back. Big Cry

Well I'll wait until the autumn now I think.

But this is a great thread and hope we see some more pricing appear.

Hi,

The cheapest ones on the go just now are LR Huddersfield, Southampton - who have a 100 pounds price promise and the site sponsor, Lookers at Park Royal.

I've been very tempted, but I do think the deals will get cheaper. Traditionally, 1st March will always attract a premium price, people that are going to buy, will at this time to get the new '10' Regs. Add to that the end of the scrappage allowance, new vehicle tax etc. etc. and I can see demand going down generally. You could argue, that the next quarters offers from LR, like the zero per cent over 2 years are be taken off, but that will push demand further down and hence the need to discount more kicks in. It's a case of Rabbits and Foxes! I know it's all speculation, but I am not normally wrong when it comes to things with a pound sign attached to it.

Australia

There's been a letter sent out stating an 'event' during 28th Feb - 1st Mar where they are trying to shift more stock, and they 'want your car' and willing to offer great deals. Don't know if its specific to a dealership though. Phil

What dealersip and town was that from, just out of interest?

It almost sounds like they are trying to shift second hand stock, but you never know.

I'd think post 1st March, we can see some deals getting better, with the possibility of the second quater being even better.

'We want your car' is a common hook to tempt you into the dealership and convert to a new vehicle.

I think the incentives for Q2 will be similar to the current ones (although they will not be announced until 1st April), however stock will be fairly short on the ground post-March which will lessen the deals offered. LR ramp up UK production in Q1 and Q3 to maximise the all important Market share statistics which are focussed on March and September. Production is pulled from other markets to meet quotas then switched back after the big plate change months.

Q1 will be better than Q2, however Q3 will see LR looking for big volume from the UK Market again.
