It's the external temperature warning. It warns you about the possibility of frost.

Dont worry - you wont hear that beep during the summer months (hopefully) 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I think it also does this if the fuel level is low - but obviously if you igniore this you're soon gonna find out!! There's always a way forward!
