Broken Brake Pad?

Drove the FL to get a paper this morning. About a mile. Quite gently actually. When I was driving back into my parking space at home I noticed something on the ground.

When I picked it up I didn't need telling that it was half a brake pad!

I hadn't heard any metal on metal screeching so I can only assume that the other half was still in place doing a bit of its job. It must have broken off when I started up this morning or when I parked last night.

Limped gingerly to dealers and they're fixing it this afternoon.

Thing is; I drove 700 miles to/and around Cornwall last week. What would have happened if it had sheared at speed??

Is this a common thing??

RR

when you say half a brake pad...............................it sounds like the metal backing and the pad have parted company and fell out ??

could be a manufacturing fault.

I would imagine that you would have had limited braking available on the other wheels.

Had my rear pads replaced recently due to the squeeling. On inspection the material was peeling away from the backing plate.

Never known this to happen on any other car I've owned

Crap quality I would say from Land Rover Rolling Eyes ______________________
