Passenger door wont close after car left in sun

Twice in the last 6 months, I have been unable to close the front passenger door when the car is left in direct sunlight. When you try to close the door it just bounces open again and the door latch doesn't engage.
It first happened in the Spring when I was in the Lake District and the near side of the car had been facing the sun all day.

It happened again yesterday in Oban. On each occaison I have driven away with my better half holding the door shut until the central locking engages.

Given that the Lake District and the west coast of Scotland are not renowned for sun or high temperatures, and the fact that the car would have been tested in desert conditions, I find this a bit odd. I mentioned it to my dealer when the car was in for a service but they had not heard of any similar problems.

Is this an isolated incident or has anyone else had a similar experience?

Doug

I had a simlar problem with an Audi A3, when the drivers door was exposed to extreme sunlight the door open light on the dash would show, it would go off when the car cooled & the door was opened & closed, I adjusted the the position of the catch plate on the door pillar to cure it.
