Has anyone else had an issue with a smelly heater/air con system? Mine is fine when aircon is on but when I switch it to econ mode it smells like cat pee or old socks neither of which is very pleasant! Do I need my aircon re-gassing or something?

I believe the aircon needs to be run on max cold and recirculating for 10 mins and this should kill off the bacteria that causes the smell

I think it says something in the manual and can't remember if you need to then run on hot Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You need to check why the microbes are building up, blocked drain tube? are you parking under a tree causing stuff to land on the car and get into the air vent system?, check your pollen filter.
Remove glove box, look inside the passenger footwell at the front of the footwell ahead of the radio(right up against the fire wall) you can see the filter box, pop the lid and slide out the filter.

To remove glove box just pull back the retaining catch so it lowers more than normal , then pull the whole thing back off its hinges.

edit. you have to remove the filter anyway to use the tin of cleaner

ALso check with your dealer for recalls. There was a recall bulletin on the pre-heater units on certain VINs, but that would have smelt like an electrical burn. F2 - most underrated vehicle around

mine got smelly after 17000 miles i changed the pollen filter and all is fine again 2007 fl2 narvik black ,chrome mirrors,side steps,tinted windows,20" kahn wheels,6000k xenon conversion,black leather,garmin nuvi satnav,silver vision indicator bulbs,clear side repeaters.

Mmm - mine stinks like a trooper - Diagnosed by my Boyfriend as being like Turkey Poo - though god only knows how he knows that!!
