key fob replacement

2010HSE auto
I have managed to break the small plastic piece that holds my keyring onto the fob.
Fortunately i have a spare key.
2" questions
1>been looking at replacement key fob cases and not sure. Most supply for the later version.
reference please to get correct case.
2. Haven't tried but how easy is it to use keyfob without a keyring attached?
I swop keys over on every 1st of month so that i always have a keyfob charged up.
Plenty on Amazon to choose from. Don't fancy the £4 ones, quite willing to pay for a good one.
All advice great fully received thanks Jim A

A couple of years ago I got a handful of them for my car & my sister's Evoque from one of our site sponsors. I can't remember what I paid, but they were cheap enough not to waste time on copies.

Edit: it just sunk in that you are after the earlier version. Sorry for not reading clearly. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The rubber switch covering on one of my fobs was coming loose, I just replaced the housing with a generic copy case from ebay, just unsnap the PCB out of the old case and snap into the new one, worked fine. Was £6 I think.
(edit sorry didn't read the post properly. This is for a newer version fob)

Thanks for the replies.
Are the casings identical for both battery types?

The fob for the younger car is different & you can just leave it in your pocket (in general) once you press the button to open the car. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This site has pictures of both types, although I see the earlier Rechargeable Battery type is wrongly marked as suitable for all FL2s.
