Part Number – Foam Filler next to rear wheel arch

While inspecting the underside of my Freelander 2, I noticed a foam insert near the rear wheel arch. I suspect it serves as some sort of acoustic filler. Strangely, the corresponding piece on the other side of the vehicle is missing—perhaps it fell out. I’d like to get a replacement for this foam, but I can’t seem to find it on any technical diagrams. Could anyone help me out and provide the part number?

Never seen that before.

Could it be some sort of transportation packaging that got left behind instead of being removed at pre-delivery inspection ? Jules

You can’t see it in this photo, but a screw/bolt goes all the way through this styrofoam, so it’s intentionally screwed in. IMO impossible that it is a pre-delivery protection — you couldn't remove it without putting the car on a lift and having a qualified technician do it.If they had to remove it, it would have increased the cost of selling the car. MY2011 TD4 S Manual

Interesting... Mine also has the styrofoam block on the Offside (right of the car in the UK), but nothing on the left... just an empty space.

I found it on the right side too (LHD car). On the left side there's an empty space about the same size. So if yours only came with it on one side, maybe that’s how it left the factory and nothing’s actually missing. MY2011 TD4 S Manual

Well Im wrong . Embarassed

Ive just been under the car to have a look and sure enough there is just one block of foam between the RH wheel arch and the body. Its a 2014 RHD SD4 and the is no block on the LH side.

Despite the number of times ive been under the car I had never noticed the foam block before Banging Head

I too assume its for sound/vibration issues.

Ive serached here and cant find it listed.
