Electrical fault

Hi.. I’ve got a 2009 freelander 2 and am getting an intermittent but increasingly frequent fault. The satnav/display will keep resetting/briefly goes off and back on again. The radio will briefly cut out at the same time and it keeps losing Bluetooth connection to my phone and then won’t find my phone when I try to reconnect.

It will do this cycle for say 10mins and then will work faultlessly for a period and then begin doing it again (on a single drive). Only been happening a few days but very annoying.

Previous to that the dash was saying (and still is) HDC fault/transmission fault. That began around 2 weeks ago. I put a new battery in as I’d read the system can be sensitive to a failing battery but no difference.

Any ideas? Hoping it’s a common (and not terribly expensive!) thing to rectify.

I was going to say battery but you you've sorted that it is the usual cause.

You need to bypass the Bluetooth module using a fiber optic loop back

Freel2,

I reactivated my Satellite Radio module.

I did this because my Bluetooth module failed and I needed to use the Loop Back to bypass it.

It took 20 minutes to do this.

When the Bluetooth module failed the Radio and Navigation Screen kept turning off and back on every 30 seconds (approximately). I will admit that this has happened occasionally in the past but the reset would bring the Bluetooth back to life. This time it kept resetting every 30 seconds until I bypassed the Bluetooth Module and disconnected it.

I ordered a second loopback so that I could bypass both modules at the same time.

I did notice that the loopback fiber isn't held very securely in its connector but a small dab of epoxy or RTV will fix that. I used Tape yesterday because time was limited.

Thanks

Paul

I like chips,

Point well made.

Bypass or replace the Blue tooth module.

I bypassed mine 4 years ago and maybe some day I will replace it or take it apart and try to repair it.

So many projects and so little time.

I am still standing by my statement to bypass because it will confirm the failure and the loop back only costs ten quid.

If you can get a working second hand module for less than that then I will change my recommendation

Take care

Paul

PS the LR2 is with my daughter about 400 miles from where I live so I need a robust solution
