Lunar & Defender

Daughter & her chap decided they wanted a caravan, so we picked one up last week, from near York

Still to be tested out/first pitch

He sold a Mustang V8, to buy the 110, ideally he could do with a longer 'drop-plate', as the 110 has a 2" lift

Doesn't look too bad, ideally should be slightly nose down rather than up but a Defender will pull that effortlessly. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I agree. a 2" to negate the lift

It had an inaugural/test night out on Friday
They didn't go too far, just in case (as much as anything, we could nip home to collect tools/equipment)

https://www.squires-cafe.co.uk/about/history-of-squires/
We had to ask to move pitches though, as the mains cable was the 10 yard version (the full '25' is on their shopping list now)
Other than that, no real issues
We had tea in the cafe/bar too

Watching them arrive

My Kodiaq was parked opposite

@bobupndown

My old 110Td5 'Heritage', with the Elddis Crusader Storm 2000, we owned back then
It was an absolute dream to tow, & superb to reverse, with the distance to the axles

Yep a twin axle is fantastic to tow, so stable and easier to reverse than a small trailer.
The Freelander 2 tows ours effortlessly.
Really like those heritage edition Defenders.

The 'Heritage' was nice, but I hated the side-steps

SWMBO wouldn't let me take them off, as her & our daughter used them

I changed all the lights to 'NAS' (LEDs weren't really available then)
Upper pair; tail/brake
Lower pair; tail/fog

They were a heck of a lot brighter!!

Green leather (I took the rear-benches out, for better space useage)
I must admit, the rear-seats were still awful & are vastly improved in their Defender

White instruments
I moved the tachometer, swapping it with the fuel-guage, as it got reflections on it, at the right-side position

Nicely lit in green!

Good recovery rings were fitted

Very nice, I loved the pale green version of these. Couldn't afford one when they were new and probably still can't afford one now with the ludicrous prices original Defenders are now making! Enjoyed my Td5 Discovery though. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I owned it, from (I think?) 2006 - March 2010

It replaced a Discovery 50th Anniversary (Tdi/manual), that the 'S50 RAT' registration was bought for
(the Disco was on a 'S' plate anyway!)

Daughters chap wants to sell the 110, as he probably bought it 'with rose tinted glasses' about using one as a daily-driver?
I used mine as a family car, as others do, but I'd had 90s & 110s before, so very used to them/their idiosyncrasies

For a while, before 'management' got a Q3, now sold Thumbs Up , we/she had a Touareg for short time (in conjunction with my Kodiaq)
That was great for towing, with the 3.0TDi (V6)

Sadly, she didn't like it. hence the Q3 (silly 2.0 petrol-turbo/auto)

The Touareg
I wasn't a fan of the silly 20" wheels & 'rubber-band' tyres, but it was only meant to be a 'every so often' car (tip runs & caravan towing)
We didn't have it long, a couple of months Neutral
