Droning noise at 30mph

Well having had my FL2 from new, it’s sadly developed a fault. I’m not sure if it’s a wheel bearing no obvious play in the wheel but will need to get it up on a ramp and rotate the wheel around and hold onto the shocker /spring to feel for a vibration. Just hoping it’s not the PTU, 2014 manual TD4 with under 40,000 full LR history.

I’m getting a droning noise when doing 30mph > anything below <30mph it is fine.

I have changed wheels to set of 19s with new general grabbers AT3s but still the same drone . MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Is the noise coming from the front or the back of the car?
If it’s from the front, is it affected by sharp left or right steering inputs?
What happens to the noise when speeds rise to 60 or 70mph?

To quote Bell Engimeering:

“What are the symptoms of the PTU on a Freelander 2?
A drumming or whirring noise from the front footwell area of the car, that can over time develop into a banging or graunching noise is a symptom of the front transfer box (otherwise known as power transfer unit, PTU, front diff or IRD) nose bearing failing.”

My 64 plate SD4 is in for one in a few weeks, although that’s approaching 178,000 miles, so 40,000 would be a surprise!

Rear Differential Nose Bearing ?

My original Post on the matter to a different member -----

"I would prepare yourself for the cost of a Diff, you may be lucky and it's Tyres or a Wheel Bearing, but I doubt it.

My Wonky Diff started off as a low drone noise, and then quite suddenly became louder (above about 20mph) and sounded like 2 misaligned gears grinding into each other."
