Help! My 2010 FL2 seats give me back pain

Hi, fairly recent owner of a 2010 FL2 TD4 HSE with 180k on the clock, fitted with black leather electric and heated seats. The old bus has been reliable and practical so far but I am really struggling with back pain on longer journey's. My partner has also commented that she doesn't find the seats very comfortable so it's not just me. I have fiddled with the position so much but running out of ideas. Just wondered if anyone has experienced the same issue and if you had a solution? I don't want to change the car as we have both grown fond of it but we frequently do long journey's in it so being comfortable is important. Appreciate any advice, cheers!

Does the lumbar support work ok…….?
I find the support panel deflates after a few months….re-inflating with the control button returns thé seat to being really comfortable ……I have found. I can drive 450 mls non-stop & step out from car without any aches……….just the right seat for long distance……….for me. FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current

If you're reffering to the little up/down button tucked at the back then it doesn't seem to do much. Will give it a go tomorrow.

180k is a good mileage - the seat upright foam might have collapsed. I had this issue on my car when I bought it on 140k - long journeys, aching back...

I find my seats (leather, manual adjustable, no lumbar support) very comfortable even on the longest of journeys. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I also have the pauper seats.

My only issue, but it is minor, is the length of the actual seat under the thigh could be a touch longer.

But other than that they are great on our smooth outback roads! https://vimeo.com/364281135 Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

How would I know if it's collapsed?

quite simple to check - follow the link to the thread in my message above - there are 2 pictures showing where to press on the seat upright. If it feels solid rather than spongy, then it has collapsed - you're resting on the metal frame while driving. You do need to be firm when prodding the seat - the seat cover tends to hold the "correct seat upright shape" - but has no strength so as soon as you lean on the back rest, it collapses and you're left resting against the metal frame.

My car does not have the inflatable lumbar support - just the manual adjustment. When I rebuilt the seat upright, I added some additional springs to the lumbar support (salvaged from the donor seat) - well worth doing for a more firm lumbar support - though I'm not sure if it would work with the inflatable system...

Hope you get it resolved - the Freelander 2 seats should be very comfortable on long journeys as others have said.
