Can see where the confusion arises. One part number is, I think , for the short length of hose
and another for the much longer length of hose.

Attached is a photo of LR002589

Lots of motor factors seem to be quoting incorrect part number.
When I order one I will go by the photo supplied on their site.

Been away but back now so faffing with the problem, Got new hose section so proceeded to get old pipe off. All okish until trying to remove pipe from intercooler at point shown by arrow on attached pic be damned if I can get it to budge to pull it off. Have a nic e big split at point X. I assume the pipe should come off fairly easily.

No. It has a large jubilee clip retaining it!
Once that's off it will come off easily enough. There is also a plastic clip with a self tapping screw [hs2 in your diagram] that supports that pipe that may cause additional issues.
I have found it easier to remove the front bumper to access this hose. Quite straightforward to do. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Whoever designed this engine layout needs shooting. Managed to get pipe off. Now trying to get replacement on.
Bumper removal does it help much? It all feel and hope, scrtaches and chaffed knuckles. Sod the plastic pipe holder.
Is up on ramps now can I get bumper off in situ?

Bumper off seems a right faff, headlights out etc.

Ive just replaced the hose marked with the red X.

Getting it off and on the end joining to the plastic interconnecting hose is easy. The end which connects to the IC is awkward - recessed behind pipes and fan housing. But I managed it without taking the bumper off using a 7mm micro ractchet.

The original jubilee clip is actually clipped to the hose itself to stop it moving whilst tigtening up. But with a bit of trial and error we managed it.

.

The white plastic ring support is attached to the chassis with a screw which is impossible to access. So left it alone and squeezed the old pipe, which was damaged and squishy, through it. The new pipe was stiffer but I used cable ties to squeeze the wider end and pass it through the ring support.

I bought LR066429 which came with hose I needed (hose X) plus the plastic pipe and the short hose connecting to the manifold (the one that often splits), and also all the jubilee clips and the plastic ring support (which I didnt use ) - £66 Jules

Gave up trying to connect the pipe at the intercooler end. I just could not get it to fit over the flange, after numerous attemps and lots of profuse swearing I gave up. Decided to try the bumper removal game, more swearing. Three of the 4 silly plastic nuts in the wheel arch had to be destroyed to get them off. All four of the screws, two either side on the underside will not budge. Someone has been at it before all heads knackered for starters. Am going to drill them out in the morning, having a few well desrved beers now.
I tell you this car is one iota from going west. My pipe at the intercooler end has a an 8mm jubilee, though I do have the 7mm on the removed pipe. I did for a moment consider patching the pipe by using a piece of new pipe cut lengthwise over the hole and two more jubilee clips.
Why should something in effect being easy be such a pain?

Dont give up.
Did you put a smear of lubricant (clean engine oil) on the flange and inside the hose ? I found that helped and my hose pushed on easily both ends after that. Jules

Engines haven’t been laid out for easy maintenance access since the Mini was designed! Engines are built up as an almost ready to run unit and inserted in the bodywork with the least fasteners they can get away with. It doesn’t matter to the assembly workers that to do any work on the engine a mechanic is going to lose some skin. Blame the stylists and safety teams. The stylists all want close fitting bodywork and the safety teams want crush and intrusion protection. Throw in the environmental lobby and a few bean counters and there’s even less room to work in.

They still want shooting!

Anyway the damned pipe is on, hurrah. Did as Jules suggested bit of oil on pie and flange. I also trimmed a bit off the innner of the pipe to make oushing it on easier.
I even got the plastic bit attached. Used a bit of 5mm stud after tapping the hole in the plastic thingy and then bolting to the flange that the self tapper used.
Also removal of bumpber for this job is way over the top. I found removing just the offside wheel arch cover, front bit only, gave enough access to get the pipe on quite easily.

Thanks was losing it. All back together for tomorrows MOT. Gave her a run no errors flagged up so that is something.
Attached is a pic of the offending pipe the damge to which looks to my mind more than just age. More to my mind like abrasive damage. Could only be the aux belt setup. The new arrangement is nowhere near the pulley so Thumbs Up
