Page 3019 of the Repair Manual and Wiring has this Diagram of the AirCon Clutch.

You need to check the earths as, for example, the connection marked A gets its earth from the Engine Control Moldule.

If you haven't already done so you need to download the Repair Manual and carefully work your way through the interconnections.

I repeat this post as the OP RPA, in the link above, had the right approach and persistence to work his way through this complicated system. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

No special tools 15mm for tensioner and I think 10mm for pulley clutch

Thank you.

I purchased a replacement compressor from ebay.

I read that taking an ohm reading from the coil connectios should yield a reading of between 2-5 ohms. The reading i get is 8.8 - this would seem to indicate that the part is faulty. Just wanted to see if anyone had any comments about this before I return the item. Thank you

Have you tested the clutch on the replacement unit with a 12 volt feed? At 8.5 ohms it might be out of spec - but there again a couple of ohms additional resistance (on an inductive) load could easily be down to poor connections between the multimeter probe and the coil terminals. Is your eBay-sourced unit brand new or used?

Thanks you for your reply. It is used and operates with 12v - I’m just a bit wary of fitting the part if it’s likely to fail shortly. I appreciate your feedback.

Replaced the air con coil tonight and I have freezing cold aircon and fans working.

Relief to have it all fixed before the heatwave.

Thanks to all who have helped along the way πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Just the clutch coil. Pretty easy - probably about an hour in total.

Glad you got it sorted.

It is interesting that you are allowed to work on refrigeration. In Australia it is illegal, you need a licence for any form of refrigeration. I can't even re-gas my 28L fridge. Thanks - fortunately the air con clutch can be replaced without removing the compressor or pipes
