EGR Removal Difficulties 2.2 Diesel Manual

Hi all,

My 2012 2.2 Deisel with only 29,000 miles went into Limited Performance Mode and the codes indicate it is the EGR valve. I am trying to remove it to replace it. I cannot see what is still holding it on. I have disconnected all I can see now and it still seems to be held on pretty solidly.

Has anyone here experienced this? I have undone several of the pipes but some are still attached as it will be easier to remove those once i get it loose and move it.

You can see from the picture I have removed the top two bolts holding it on. It seems as though there may be another two similar bolts below but i have used mirrors etc and cannot see these at all. It seems as though the EGR Valve just sits on the bottom two studs as placeholders and is only actually attached by the top two bolts. Does anyone know if this is correct?

The picture shows how far i have got with it but it still seems to be very solidly attached to the head. Does anyone know if perhaps there are some fixing bolts holding the cooler to the engine? It only seems to be attached directly to the EGR valve and I can remove it once I have the whole assembly off.

If anyone has any idea what is still holding this on, or if there are bolts at the bottom out of view, I would be very greatful of any hints. It might seem strange that the EGR and Cooler are only held in place by the two bolts I have drawn a red line around, but I just cannot see any more fixings.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Please dont say 'take it in to Land Rover'. On reflection that might have been best but ...... that ship has sailed so I just need to get this finished now.

Thank you

there's a 5mm Allen bolt underneath that needs undoing just a few turns its difficult to see use a mirror and torch to locate it, a few turns is all that's needed as it is a horseshoe fittings, i assume that you have disconnected the left exhaust in clamp and also the right 2. 5mm exhaust out bolts
