I’m at my wits end now as I’ve exhausted all avenues regarding the ongoing problem of my friend’s Freelander 2 failing to rev beyond 3000rpm!

Any advice would be very very much appreciated!

I’ve been working in a friend’s Freelander 2 XS (2008) which will not rev beyond 3000.

I’ve replaced the injector pump; crankshaft sensor; turbo actuator and throttle body, all to no avail!

The MIL doesn’t illuminate but the LCD screen shows “reduced engine performance” and “terrain response system faulty”.

When I connect an OBDII meter, it shows, as a pending code: “P2564 turbocharger boost control position sensor A circuit low”.

I’m beginning to give up the will to live and I don’t even own the vehicle!.

Since the last post I’ve removed the turbo and checked the variable vanes.

I’ve checked the all hoses and have replaced the following sensors:

MAF sensor

MAP sensor

Throttle body sensor

Sensor on left of fuel rail (name escapes me)

The car starts easily, runs like a sewing machine BUT just won’t rev beyond 3000rpm.

The frustration this is causing is on another level as I just don’t know where to go from here!

I had a brief look at it when I fitted it to the new throttle body and thought it looked ok.

I will have a closer look next week.

Have another look at the Turbo Vane actuator/sensor and wiring.
