Land Rover Assist Hire Cars

I just wondered if anyone has been charged for the hire car you were provided with after your car had been with LRA?

I've just recieved my credit card bill with a bit of a surprise on it in terms of a charge for car rental, all due to the day I returned the car. LR customer Services are investigating but they are struggling to find whose fault it is that I have been charged. They can't refund the money as Enterprise have taken the payment, and Enterprise won't refund the money until LR pay them. (Enterprise have my CC details from the deposit taken to cover fuel etc)

At the end of the day my CC company are willing to dispute the payment, but I don't want to go to the hassle of the paperwork.

It's typical I found this out after I had just returned the questionnaire to LRA!

The numerous time i have had a LRA car via Enterprise

They charge £50 deposit each time (plus the £20 2 days excess waiver i always pay) The £50 is returned after you drop it off

They then say that I have to get the dealer or LRA to call them to arrange the extension after this intial 2 days, which in my case the dealers have always taken care of.

On the day i drop the car off, I ALWAYS ring Enterprise to inform them
a) that i have dropped it off
b)the mileage
c) there was no visable extra damage (not that it matters with the excess waiver)

Do your garage extend to period? or did you collect it at say 12pm and drop it off after this time or something Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

They had my car for approx 2 weeks.

They charged the £50 deposit and the dealer arranged for the period to be extended beyond the 2 days.

I spoke to the dealer on the Wednesday and asked when mine would be ready as I was away from the Friday morning to the Sunday night doing a bike race. They said they didn't know, but if it was ready on Friday or Saturday they'd let Land Rover know I was on holiday and it wasn't a problem I wouldn't be charged. They phoned me on the Monday morning to say it was ready and I arranged to collect it on my way home a 5pm.

They refunded the £50 the following day, but then three weeks later took out 2 days worth of car rental as the dealer told LRA it was ready to collect on Saturday morning.

At the moment they are all passing the buck! It's going to be a phone call to my CC company soon.

I would contact the dealer principle and contact LRA and make a complaint on how it been handled

You made them aware of the fact you was going to be away etc and the fact they didn't phone you either way to say the car was ready on Saturday to give you the opportunity to collect it, IF your plans had changed and you was at home. Thumbs Up

I also know that LRA have a set rate with Enterprise, what ever the loan car (same cost for a FL2 or a FFRR) so if you have had something nice, make sure they are not giving you Joe Public prices, and your paying the LRA rate

On my last Enterprise/LRA loaner, I got the phone call from enterprise telling me my car coming of hire, and both the dealer and LRA knew nothing about telling them that was the fact, even though my car was ready Rolling Eyes

Somebody had to tell Enterprise, its wasn't as if they was fixing the bloody thing Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Looks like it has been sorted, eventually.

The service manager had 'forgotton' to tell LR I was on holiday. I've just got to wait for them to repay the money, I'll be keeping a very close eye on the CC account to make sure they pay it back.

CG I think my car was trying to get out of having a tow bar fitted to tow the tin shed! It was booked in during the period the dealer had the car!

Enterprise Con Men. My previous car (new Honda CRV) was in garage for 5 weeks waiting on new steering rack.
Honda UK immediately sent me to local enterprise dealer to collect hire car a nearly new Mercedes C 180 K
They took £50 from my credit card then the David Beckham lookalike took me out and checked damage marks with me, all documented when he walked round car.
2 days later I nearly lost car on bend, was surprised (have driven for 50 years) have had some very high performance cars. Cause 2 rear tyres well below legal limit. Phoned depot and this was quickly rectified but on hindsight I am sure valeter told rep about tyres when he brought out car but rep made some gesture and said "its all right".
When I returned car after 5 weeks same rep accused me of causing trouble about tyres, he backed down when I showed him my VOSA MOT Inspectors ID card.
He then proceeded to crawl round car on hands and knees to find a minute indent on rear door "this car is going to be off road until it has been at our accident assesment centre and will need a new door"
He obviously knew small mark was there but it was so small he strugled to find it.
After some argument they said" (and had paperwork already printed) if you decline £50 deposit return we will class as a minor repair.
Believe me this mark could not be seen.
Phone call to head office about whole episode including tyre saga soon resultet in refund of my £50.
Be warned

For information, it took enterprise 5 weeks to refund me the money, not at all impressed with their service. LR Customer Service were quick to sort out why the money had been taken but enterprise were just poor
