England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

In my past I’ve had all kinds of “groaning” from vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, normally caused by brake pads. That it only occurs when going backward suggests that something is wearing preferentially. Has anyone suggested putting a chamfer on the trailing edge (which becomes the leading edge) of the brake pads?

Finally had this solved by Mellings garage in Leyland. They replaced both rear brake callipers as one was binding and the rubber gaskets had perished on the other. It is now groan free!
