2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black
Recoding of computer for towing.

For everyone that fitted their own towbars and electrics.

What is the normal cost for the stealers, to carry out the recoding for the electrics?

Try it first, mine didn't need recoding. If the repeater light doesn't work in the dash board for the indicator, then let it be an say at the first service it doesn't work, and they may do it for nothing thinking they should have done it already Very Happy Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

As far as know they do it to turn off rear parking sensors once you plug in the sockets

try speaking to a good independant that might be able to link it up the PC

or send a email to 10forcash on disco3 he might be able to do the required for you at your home Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Mine is also a 13pin socket. It is only a two minute job to plug in the laptop and change a couple of menus. £50 is taking the ****. Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

I've been quoted £45 by two dealers in the midlands. I agree it is taking the p*ss.

I am looking at a witter removable tow bar and even allowing for having it recoded it is still a LOT cheaper than an LR towbar fitted.

I've got the witter http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/towbars/ve...tid=204245
cost £400 fully fitted with 13pin electrics

Hi Chris

I agree with you, £850 i think it was the stealer said. Embarassed

found the Witter Quantum for £208 + p&p
The same company do a dedicated wiring kit (not LR) for £147 + p&p

But think i will go for the 13 pin LR loam from Famous Four £150 + p&p

Still better that the stealers 08 FL2 SE TD4 manual,Santorini Black, Factory fitted Black Tinted Glass, Anti-Tesco Trolly Side Protection, bebe confort axiss carseats & Cargo barrier to stop twin's buggy & junk coming through. NO Sweets Crisps or Drinks inside.

I make that £358, so £42 to cover p&p, fitting and recoding, surely it's cheaper just to get a Auto Electrics Specialist to do it locally?

I haven't got the quote infront of me but a local fitter has quoted around £400 fitted for the witter, with the dedicated wiring harness with 13pin or twin electrics, which is much the same as Christian. They also do w westfalia detachable for about £40 more, where the electrics flod out of sight and the towbar mounting is not visible, however, I understand they have to cut the bumper and the cut is visible!

That maybe, but i got a price for £450 just for the towbar. At that time i had the towbar for £250. I ask why it was costing £200 for the 30min install (witter time scale) This company was witter approved Shocked

If i do it myself will take time to do it correctly and with care. 08 FL2 SE TD4 manual,Santorini Black, Factory fitted Black Tinted Glass, Anti-Tesco Trolly Side Protection, bebe confort axiss carseats & Cargo barrier to stop twin's buggy & junk coming through. NO Sweets Crisps or Drinks inside.

If you haven't got your kit yet try www.kupplung.de as ths is where i got mine from and no coding was required. I think the dedicated kits they sell (made by Jaeger) are sold via Towsure in the Uk (but I maybe wrong). Cheaper than the LR boxed kit as well. Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

Well thought i would let you know.

Got a price from Ogg's of Elgin to re code: £25 + vat.
T&C Aberdeen £48.88 inc vat.

Asked T & C the local dealer if they would match and they said NO.

Not a prob, trip out with the family to Elgin. 08 FL2 SE TD4 manual,Santorini Black, Factory fitted Black Tinted Glass, Anti-Tesco Trolly Side Protection, bebe confort axiss carseats & Cargo barrier to stop twin's buggy & junk coming through. NO Sweets Crisps or Drinks inside.
