Old tools leaving young equipment for dead.

A tool that simply just keeps performing no matter how old it is!

Drill bits for drilling metal are the worst offenders. They seem to be made out of monkey metal so they bend and can't really be sharpened. Fortunately I still have my British made imperial drill bit set that I purchased over 60 years ago when I was an apprentice. They still cut really well and can be sharpened properly.

As an apprentice in 1976 when i started my apprenticeship I started investing in Britool tools, (when they were still made in Britain using high quality steel) I still have and use them nearly 49 years later, have never had anything break, only having to refurbish the 3/8" & 1/2" drive ratchets with repair kits they used to supply. Even back then they weren't cheap but have proved to be worth the investment. Only sad thing is I never use any of the BSW/WW stuff anymore Wink

Not as tidy as some but this is a corner of my garage. Lots of my father's stuff here too like imperial, BSF, Whitworth etc. I also have 3 trolley jacks. I sometimes wonder what will happen to all my stuff as my three kids are unlikely to get stuck in as my generation has.
