2013 dash screen brightness issues

HI All
i have just a purchased a 2013 GS model with coloured dash info screen between the two main dials.

i have notice whilst driving with lights on the the brightness of the screen changes as i am driving from very bright to almost dark several times !!
The Brightness control wheel on the side doesn't do anything to alter this

do i have an issue with the instrument panel or maybe the switch !!

any suggestions / advice would be most welcome as i am new to Freelander's and i have only owned it 4 days

Regards
Ian

I have always thought the instrument panel light sensor is the small pimple in the middle of the dashboard near the windscreen. However there is also a light sensor on the radio control panel but I think this might just be for the main centre screen.

Mine changes brightness but I wouldn't say it changes in the dramatic way you are describing.

I have a 2014 GS and also noticed the way the display changes depending on outside light. I think it's a bit oversensitive but used to it now. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The pre-facelift nav screen is also light sensitive. I'm not sure where the sensor is located, but it could well be in the rear view mirror. There's a sensor on the front of the mirror, which is there for mirror dipping control, but it could also he shared with the LCD screens inside the vehicle.

The dome in the middle of the dash is a UV sensor, used by the HVAC system for solar radiation compensation. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
