Good indie in Moray North East Scotland

Hi all, my metropolis has started making more road noise than previously. I've taken it into Oggs of Aberlour who are a well respected indie garage and they've said that both front and rear diff need replacing.

I've messaged Austin at Bell Engineering and he's said it's unusual that both need replacing at the same time and suggested getting a second opinion, however I dont know anyone else in the area apart from a main stealer which would cost a fortune.

Austin can't fit me in until February and not sure about waiting that long.

So does anyone know any other good indies fairly local to me?

Any help appreciated

The front diff is in the gearbox, so is unlikely to need replacing. Maybe they mean the PTU, in which case it's better to find somewhere who knows what they are talking about. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Thanks, chap said he'd removed both filler screws and found 'iron filings' in both. Life's too short, enjoy yourself

John, I am sure Bell can supply a diff direct to you, with surcharge for old one. Plenty of info on here on how to replace. On a trip to Solihull earlier I booked into Bell for a Haldex service and was told needed a diff.. I put the noise down to “it’s a Landrover “. What a difference. Two hours for the service and change. Your normal garage should be able to change the diff. Cannot advise on PTU. Jim A

Please can you tell me how many miles your Metro has done.

I ask because I have noticed that my Metro has just started to develop on slight, but noticeable (road speed related) noise.

It seemed to come on since the temperature dropped, so I do wonder about the tyres.

If it gets worse I will have to examine my LR Extended Warranty terms, but I fear that it may be 'Wear and Tear'.
